#TestimonyTuesday

As a young adult, the praise and music of the Charismatic Renewal created a space for me to perceive a loving and present God. It deepened my ability to pray from the heart – to really talk and listen to God, and expect God to answer back! Wanting that God to be integrated into my life shaped my future direction.

For all practical purposes, I received the gift of the Baptism in the Spirit during 2 months of extended worship times with NET training when I was 19 years old. It took all the threads, whispers, and solid foundation I received from growing up in a Catholic family, going to Catholic schools, plus several plays and retreat experiences, and combined them with opening up and actively saying “Yes” to His invitation to be in relationship with Him. It was then strongly reinforced time and again during ministry experiences that year, and during the 3 years that followed at the Franciscan University of Steubenville. For me, Baptism in the Spirit was never one specific moment, but a beautiful ebb and crescendo of grace that changed my whole life’s orientation. For me, prayer and song and the Lord’s voice leading me have flowed together pretty seamlessly, whenever I am willing to listen and join in the singing.
