Fr. Bob Hogan, BBD

Fr. Bob Hogan, BBD. is the co-founder with Fr. George Montague of the Charismatic and Marian Religious Community, The Brothers of the Beloved Disciple.

He has been a high school religion teacher, youth minister and coach, a college Theology teacher, a pastor of 2 parishes in San Antonio, Texas and the Director of the Catholic Center for Charismatic Renewal in San Antonio.  In 2008 he was given the Archdiocese of San Antonio Outstanding Leader in Catholic Education Award.

He has a Master’s of Divinity, an M.A. in Theology from the Franciscan University of Steubenville, and did Doctoral Studies in Marian Theology at the International Marian Research Institute.  He has training in Clinical Pastoral Education, Spiritual Direction, Pastoral Counseling, prayer ministry, and deliverance ministry.

He has been actively involved with charismatic renewal since he was 17.  He was a member of the National Service Committee for Catholic Charismatic Renewal from 2007-2013 and was elected the chairman of this committee in 2011.  He was elected in 2020 to be a member of the CHARIS National Service of Communion USA, serving the Catholic Charismatic Renewal in the USA.  CHARIS is the organizational structure set up by Pope Francis to support Charismatic Renewal throughout the worldwide Church.

He has spoken in many places in the United States and Canada on these and similar topics:  The role of the Holy Spirit, the role of Mary, leadership training for prayer groups and parishes, prayer, spiritual growth and transformation, the saints and spiritual growth, teaching ministry, prayer ministry, empowering ministry through charismatic gifts, the importance of praise and worship, parish renewal, the Holy Spirit and pastoral ministry, charismatic renewal, Catholic morality issues and healthy Christian relating.He has written a book, Celebrating a Charismatic Jubilee:  A Fresh look at Charismatic Renewal and the Charismatic Dimension of the Church (2016), and many leaflets and articles.  He wrote the original draft, and was the organizer of a book, A Grace for the Whole Church:  Encountering the Holy Spirit through Baptism in the Holy Spirit (2023).
